gardenia has indicated that this thread is about United Kingdom

I am a 32 year old female slowly wanting to work and travel this country and europe. i am australian and am fortunate enough to have a british passport. I am wondering where to begin??? and how easy it is to get work over here?? I am down in Gosport with some friends but couldn't see myself working down here, i love cities but i found london was overpriced with most things if i go and work in london how do i find out about share houses etc?? I am going to milan in a few weeks time and would feel more comfortable working in the Uk or ireland than europe for now. thanks

Assuming that your British passport allows you to work here without a visa there are a lot of web sites that can help find admin jobs like www.topjobs.co.uk/ and www.jobs.ac.uk/ ou can try keying in "admin jobs in london" or "admin jobs in south england" as examples of web sites to find jobs on the net - the other old way is footslogging round the local job agencies where you want to work and leaving them your name, the good ones will take your cv details and start you off on temping work, you can continue doing that and meet lots of new people and get lots of experience (not 'experiences' I hope- well - who knows!!!) . Some employers might take you on for a fixed period or you can find what other vacancies they have and apply for them, be interviewed along with everyone else and hope for the best.

London accommodation, have you tried a few days at the backpackers hostel right at Piccadilly Circus that seems to be very popular and at very good prices. Contact them on http://www.piccadillyhotel.net/london-hostels-english/london-hostels-main.html
and you can't get closer than that to the West End of London where you can reach all the action easily.

Hi there,

Check out gumtree.com if you want to find a house-share in London. Myself and most of my friends use this site and nothing else when we're changing houses... it's brilliant.
