Hey guys me n my best mate r going off for 8 months at the beginning of december, we are going to book our flight plan next week so fingers crossed this time next week will all be sorted.
We are hoping to do....

Go straight to Canada
then work our way thru N.America then
down thru Mexico
S.America
then over to Fiji, N.Zealand, Australia
then thru singapore n Thailand, Malaysia, India then
a couple of stop offs in europe before coming back.

We dont have an excessive amount of money and want to do it the cheapest possible.

Anyone got any tips of advice, or recommend and good areas in the countries we are going that that we must visit?

Also anyway else gonna be in any of them places similar time, as we r hoping to meet a good group of people along the way!!

Thanks everyone

Shane

Hey
Two friends and I are leaving from NZ mid Nov to Canada for a three month snowboard trip, probably will base ourselves in Calgary and work abit there.

In New Zealand if you are into Watersports make sure you get to Rotorua and get friendly with the locals, heaps of sweet lakes round there. Can't beat the Cormandel or North of Auckland (Bay of Islands) for a laxed out summer trip. other wise a road trip from Tauranga thru Whakatane and around the east cape will show you the real NZ and some sic waves...
Paddling the Wanganui river is cheap and wiked fun if you go with a few people, takes about 4 days.

Thats my two cents

You mention the States being part of your trip so I just had to say that I've spent some time travelling the US and really enjoyed the states people often forget about - Montana and Wyoming to name a couple. The people are great, the flora and fauna are awesome and there's some awesome horse trekking and hiking if you're into that

In Aussie head to the Gold Coast for awesome beaches, lazy days lying in the sun and several fun theme parks like Movieworld and Dreamworld.

In NZ hire a camper and hit the road, just soaking up the country, or get into it with the extreme sports you will find EVERYWHERE around the place, North and South Islands!
