Just putting out the feelers here about spending one month in America early next year. I want to see as much as I can, but preferably without doing any internal flights!
I'm thinking of doing a road trip, flying into one airport, hiring a car, driving from place to place then flying home out of somewhere else.
Has anyone done anything like this and can you give me any advice?
I have done some research for Brits on renting vs buying a car/van for months of US touring. Send me a PM if you want my 2 cents.
Thanks for the tip but we're only looking at being there for about 3.5weeks, so not really worth buying a car. Cheers anyway!
The weather might play a significant factor in your decision. I'm on the West Coast, California, and the weather is pretty good year round. But if by early next near, you mean Jan-Mar, the East Coast/Mid-West will likely have snow. I'd be happy to suggest places on the West Coast if you're interested..
Chad is right. if you are planning on coming here early in the year, the West Coast is your best beat as far as good weather and easy travel. I have done a lot of traveling around CA, so if you need any suggestions or want to bounce any idea off someone private message me. good luck.
I just finished 2 weeks in the south-western USA. And it was a mad rush. My (our's really, except I can't speak for my girlfriend) opinion is that in 3.5 weeks you can reasonably do 1/4 + a little bit more of the country comfortably with few compromises due to schedule.
