Travel Forums Asia Help needed badly: Thailand in october

Hi everybody,

I'm currently travelling around the world (from 5 months) and I'll be arriving in Thailand in october.

I really need your help to plan around two weeks over there because my girlfriend is coming to meet me during that time!! I think as soon as she arrives we'll be heading to a very nice and quiet beach to relax (and have some fun together... jeje...) , and maybe dive, for spending around one week or ten days, and then move to stay another couple of days visiting somewhere else, maybe the north.

So what I need to know basically is what beach or island would you recommend me at this time of the year (1st october - 15th october) considering moonson?

Other place to visit during those other 3 or 4 days?

Any other suggestion considering the situation?? I really want my girlfriend to have the time of her life... you know what I mean. So if you know also any resort, hotel, activity or restaurant even in Bangkok for the first day it would be great...

Thanks so much! :)

hello,

a few ideas

I went for a 2 week trip to thailand with my girl friend and she had a great time diving in koh tao and travelling around kohpanyang, i have also been for a month previously. however with it being monsoon season and the weather isn't great in that area (east coast islands) that time of year. You may be lucky! how about Phi Phi voted one of the most beautiful islands on the planet! and rightly so! even if a bit tourity now but will be quite that time of year better weather than the east coast islands, i think you will have to travel to that area to get the weather. a bit tricky to get too, you may have to fly to phuket then boat from there, rather than a long 12 hour + bus/train journy. perhaps a few nights there diving and a few nights in krabi which is also beautiful and a short boat ride away.

For hotels in Bangkok maybe check out the area around Sukhumvit road where there are lots of hotels both cheap and posh affordable ones shouldbe able to have a good night out there as well, rather than kohsan road which is backpacker central good place to hang out but some hotels can be scummy.

I have heard some very good things about a resterant on the roof of a v high building and views across the city which looks amazing havn't been there but quite famous i believe someone may be able to help you out there??

nr bangkok you can visit bridge over the river Kwai which is a great trip out as a small group includes elephant rides, bamboo rafting visting water falls can be 1,2 or 3 days.

or trip to chang mai obviously a bit further so if you wanted to go south for a beach and visit chang mai in two weeks would be lots of travelling!! maybe better to cut down the miles a bit.
good luck, we are there in 3 weeks for the first leg of our RTW trip!!!

Beaches
I liked Koh Pha Ngan and Phukett.
I hated Koh Samui.

A beach I recommend on Koh Pha Ngan is the following. U can also book accomodation on this beach with the following link.
www.coconutbeach-bungalows.com

It may be best to fly to the islands, rather than take a boat. Sometimes the boats dont go during the monsoons, if the sea is too rough.

Restaurants
A restaruant I recommend in Phuket town on Phuket island is Khanasutra. It is at 18-20 Th Takua Pa.
It is an Indian restaurant. The food is excellent and the restaurant is beautiful.
I also like the restaurant at Jim Thomsons house, in Bangkok, because of its location. However, I do not know if it open late at night. Any taxi driver in Bangkok will know where it is.

A place to visit for 3 to 4 days.
Kanchanaburi or Koh Sok.
I enjoyed both.
In Kanchanaburi stay at the Blue Star Guesthouse. Try to get one of the bungalows, right at the river.
In Koh Sok stay at Arts River Lodge. It has a lovely restaruant, and monkeys come to play and swim in the water beside the restaruant. U can get a table where u can watch them.

In Bangkok, take her to the Vertigo Restaurant at the Bayan Tree Hotel (or even stay at the hotel if you really want to impress her!!)
It's the highest restaurant/bar in Bangkok and is absolutely AMAZING!! The views are stunning.... she will love it!!
