Quoting Purdy

Ive taken advice from a fellow Norn Irish person (cheers Neal!) who has suggested the following pubs:

and l have just remembered

Im now in agreement with Neal - the Cathedral Quarter - around St Annes Cathedral - Donegal Street - is the most up and coming area in Belfast at the moment - its not quite (actually no where near) Temple Bar in Dublin but it is moving that way. The only thing is its NOT as close to the university area or the hostel area so people will have a longer walk - you are talking about 20 mins walk or there abouts - if its dry not a problem!

Any of those four bars listed are cool - nice chilled out - non pretentious - non dressy up - live music - log fire type bars. They are all very close to one another so we could visit all 4 in one evening!

So for Thursday 27th Dec l suggest we meet up in

51 Donegall Street
Northern Ireland

If Rich et al are getting in to Belfast in the evening of 27th - then say 9 for 9.30pm to meet up. Rich you can park on Donegal Street - its free and at that time there should be plenty of space to park.

If anyone needs my contact number PM me! If not - these are the arrangements for 27th Dec. As for the next day - keep an eye on this thread people!!

It will likely be an afternoon meet - if anyone wants to meet up for lunch! Im suggesting MAGGIE MAYS home of one of the best Ulster Frys (this is cultural and everyone needs to try it - its our national dish!!!!) in the city and actually thee best Strawberry Milkshake - and its relatively cheap too!! Time can be arranged but maybe around 1pm or so and from that we can decide where or what we are gonna do next!

OK - that has some semblance of a plan me-thinks!!

Sander - for tomorrow evening Friday night in Belfast may or may not be busy because of the time of year so lm not sure about a pub that will be "quite" BUT if we go for THE GARRICK BAR in Chichester Street HERE for 19.30 onwards its a start! Its usually a nice bar - some live music later in the evenings a fire and usually you can grab a seat!

Well, you probably won't read this until after the fact, but my first flight yesterday got cancelled:( Couldn't get there until Monday, so thusly just rerouted myself to Dublin on the 1st. That's the way it goes with winter weather and flying I suppose - you just never know what's going to happen. I hope everyone has a good time and that the alcohol flows aplenty!

Well the meet up has been and gone and some are meeting today before flights and buses and trains take them back to reality!!

Rumour has it Francine is in Belfast BUT not having witnessed her l couldnt possibly comment but l do think my sources are reliable!

It was lovely to meet everyone again and great to see new faces, sadden that a couple of TPers couldnt make it but thats life and there's always next time!!

Ive uploaded a couple of photos but l didnt really take many - but there are others that have done so hopefully they will get up loaded in a bit!!

Right now Purdy decides to go back to bed cos she has a sore head!!

So I'm back home. (Happy New Year!) It was great meeting you all (and those who didn't make it will just have to be double certain to show up the next time).
I'm pleased to say that Francine managed to show up at the last day (when the meet consisted of just me and Hien), photographic evidence of her existence was created (which will be duly uploaded in a couple of days^H^H^H^Hmonths^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hsoon), and she's now in the loving company of Hien, who undoubtedly will show her a very good time indeed, having her visit many of the interesting places that this world has to offer.
Other assorted impressions I returned home with: Guiness is actually quite drinkable, there sure is a lot of rain over there, and I kinda lost track of all the changes I'm supposed to surreptitiously make to travellerspoint, but err, S&P, if you suddenly see Travel Goddesses and the like appear, don't worry, that was just you drinking too much last night. ^_^

Was cool to meet you all (excepting those i'd met before, obviously. Didn't enjoy that so much...) and apol that i wasn't around as much as I expected - the tribulations of trying to coord people from different places and add real life. Oh well. Hope all had a great trip and if I hear that Francine is not being taken care of, there will be absolute hell to pay

With luck, see some of you again somewhere, sometime, perhaps

Yeah Rich l will try not to be too insulted seeing as how it was only me you'd met before!!!

Purdy thinks boys are just horrible horrible creatures!!!

It was great meeting everyone (and meeting Purdy again!). I can't believe I'm already home - it was a fabulous trip!

I have some photographic evidence that I'll post as soon as I get a minute at home. Unfortunately, both mine and Hien's cameras ran out of battery juice just before meeting up with Rich. Coincidence... or devilish plot by a sheep-lover who will remain anonymous????? I leave it to you to decide!

So.. .when's the next meetup???

And P.S. - Thank you to the powers that be for the rounds of drinks. You were with us in spirit!
