Has anybody ever taken the train from Hanoi to Beijing and/or sailed from Tientsin to Osaka?
Im planning on doing so in February and wondered if it was easy enough and affordable? The ferry works out at around £100 one way which is vastly cheaper than the £400 i would pay to fly from Hanoi to Osaka.
hi John, i haven't been yet but am planning on doing the exact same thing in 2 months time, i cant let you know when i find out if you want. I may fly from hanoi to hong kong then train it from there to beijing. However i think shanghai does cheaper ferrys to osaka, (around 75 quid) and it should be a day shorter trip#
My friend took the train from Hanoi to Beijing in May this year. He said it took them about two days but it wasn't too bad. Quite smooth to travel and as long as you have your own entertainment (Ipod, books, snakcs etc) you should be fine.
He was dreading the long journey but he said he actually had quite a good time!
