Maybe your inability to enjoy both sports makes you the narrow minded one, eh Mr Ford? ;)

I think the whole world is well enough represented to justifiably call it a 'world cup' - Georgia, USA, Argentina, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa - that's all of the continents represented isn't it? Unless we expect some penguins get a team together.

Now the baseball 'world series', that really is a misnomer....

And what about the baseball World Series???

Was a competition that was first sponsored by a a newspaper called "the World" and thus is slightly different

I never knew that. OK, fair enough!

You've got me wrong, Rob. I love both rugby codes, cricket, Australian Football, Baseball, and a few more as well, but you can't love them all. Call it tasteful discrimination, but Soccer is still boring!

I think it's perfectly justifiable to call it the world cup, something like 90 different countries have been involved in the tournament going back to all the qualifying matches. That's not as many as the football world cup (204 teams will be competing in 2010) but it's still a lot.

Okay :)

I like Football, Rugby, Sex and Ice Cream - some combination of some the four, even better

BTW did you enjoy the match? :):):):)

Hey, Rob. Congratulations to England...and France. Looks like a different World Cup this time! Now we have to hope Fiji and Argentina can win their matches. Also, I live in hope that my dream will eventuate...the elimination of the three point penalty goal!

Heh. Yeah, it's true, we wouldn't have made much progress if we couldn't kick so many points.

I think Scotland v Argentina has the potential to be a very good game, Argentina are looking good. I can't quite believe that Fiji will beat South Africa, in fact surely South Africa are favourites for the cup now.

I concur, Rob. Keep on truckin' - I hope to be in England next August. Maybe I can buy you a beer!

Yeah, what a shock!

The papers here are saying that the New Zealanders are blaming the referee. Is that correct?
