We made a booking about a month ago through this website for a hostel in London. We were quoted a price and have paid a deposit.
But I have just recieved an email from the hostel direct stating that they are increasing the price by 15 pounds a night!!
Their only explanation is that the prices listed on the website were 2007 prices... But the dates I booked for were clearly in early 2008.. so the mistake is at their end.
Can they do this??
What does your receipt/booking confirmation say? They cannot charge you any more than the price you put down a deposit for.
exactly. they are now charging us about a hundred pounds more than our receipt says we have to pay.
they say we have to pay it... and i'm not sure where we stand legally.
Madsg, the property should not be doing this.
Please use the "Contact" link at the bottom of the page to get in touch with us with some more details (reference no) so we can chase it up for you and get some clear answers!
They seem a bit inconsiderate.
They really should charge u the price they quoted, when u made the booking, out of decency. 15 Euros per night is a lot more to pay.
I dont know what should happen legally.
Interesting case indeed; don't think I've ever seen this happen (the only case 'similar' that I can remember was when a hostel had accidently put down their price as .80 USD instead of 8 USD per night).
As Peter mentioned, use the contact link at the bottom and the email will end up with the right person who will be able to deal with this. We'll sort something out!
