Getting a Vietnam Visa in Chiang Mai

Travel Forums Asia Getting a Vietnam Visa in Chiang Mai

Just wondering if anyone can help me with info regarding obtaining a visa for Vietnam in Chiang Mai.
I am currently in Malaysia and have been told it will take 3 days to get one here so I plan to head off to Thailand first and will spend most of my time in Chiang Mai area. At least 3 days anyway. I don't really want to hang around that long in Bangkok and was hoping that I could get a visa in Chiang Mai.

I have been told that I cannot purchase a visa upon arrival at the airport in Vietnam.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Ms Pinky

there are agencies in chiang mai who will apply for your vietnam visa for you - they have to send it down to bangkok to the embassy there anyway, but 3 days might be enough. there is a way of getting a visa on arrival for vietnam but i'm not sure what the story is with this - i know it has been mentioned in previous threads though so you could do a search on the forums for some more info. i think it works out more expensive than applying for one before you go.

Hi bex,

How long do you get on the Vietnam Visa, is it 30 days?

Thanks
Clare

Hi Clare,
yes I 'm fairly sure it's 30 days, from the day you enter the country.

Ms Pinky,
Yes, you certainly can obtain a visa on arrival if you fly into VN. The cheapest company I have found is:<vietnamimpressive.com> They charge $23 for their service and then the $25 for the visa, paid at the airport when you arrive. Try them or google: 'vietnam visa on arrival'. Read about the procedure and decide if it will work for you. Check the price once in Chiang Mai and then you will have a comparison. Good Luck.
