Hey, I was just wondering if i had to take some smarter clothes if I wanted to go out in the evenings in Australia, where I live we have to wear smart shoes and shirts to be let in anywhere but I dont really want to have to carry them around when in Australia!!!

Cheers, Matt

in my experience people in Oz don't get as dressed up as we do in the UK - i would have felt far too dressy going out in oz if i had dressed the same as I do at home. i think you will be fine with jsut your casual stuff. it could be worth taking maybe one dressy outfit though in case any special occasions arise.

It depends on where you go as to what standard dress you are expected to wear. Generally something neat casual will do, but very occasionally you will find a place that requires a bit more of a dress standard (sounding like what they must expect in the UK).

For most places collared shirt is enough. Some clubs don't allow jeans or sneakers as i recall, but its been some years since i last went clubbing. Pubs are fine.

ya, pubs will let you in wearing normal clothes, but for clubs it depends on where you are, tends to be less strict the futher north you go, in melbourne places can get pretty strict. Yet in cairns they are used to travellers wearing whatever. Usually shoes is the main target, don´t know why, can´t see your feet in most places anyways :) see how you go, and if its looking like too much of a problem, just buy a cheap pair of dress shoes.
