UK getting the iPhone 9 November, the US already has it. Boohoo, when is this thing coming to Norway so I can take it for a test run???

Apple, go with Telenor in Norway; please?! I don't want to be on the side of the "sad girlfriend"

Sam, it's only a phone.....

It's okay, Sam. It's probably better that it doesn't get to Norway just yet - gives Apple time to work out some of the "little bugs" first. Some people are finding that it's best to leave home without their phone, too.

I know, but I want to try it out in the apple store and see what all the fuss is about :)

Gretchen, yeah, ironing out the bugs is always a a good reason to wait. But does it have to be this long? :) One thing that I've noticed some of the people in the US complaining about is the cost of travelling with it but I think it wouldn't be as much of an issue in Europe since we're used to how to deal with roaming costs, what to expect and how the costs blow up on trips (plus the operator would have to stick to more or less the same plans they already have for other phones). The way mobiles work in the US has been so different (and they've often not been compatible overseas either) that I'm not surprised people are generating hefty bills along the way

Personally I think that once Apple figured out how much money they were making off the phone bills they realized cutting the price of the phone and thus getting many more to use it would make them much more money than keeping it high.

I'm trying to kid myself that I need one for testing how Travellerspoint works on an iphone; think the tax office would buy that?

What network does it work on; i.e. what telco do you have to sign up with or is it unlocked?

O2 - no option.

In the UK it will be O2, in the US it is AT&T.

These companies have to hand over a share of turnover to Apple for being their partner :) Not unlocked, although several hacks have emerged that allow you to unlock it (until when/if Apple decides to close them). It only took a few months for the first software hack to be published. There were whole competitions centered around who would be first.

If I was AT&T or O2 I'd offer the phone free of charge. That way you'd increase your customer base significantly. Tweak a few call rates, and you'd make up for the lost revenue.

Yeah, but I'm sure they've thought of that. The phone's still a novelty so people will pay. There will come a time when they'll give it away provided a contract is taken. Happens with all new phones really doesn't it?
