I´m keen to see asia on a bike too, something bigger than a moped tho :) don´t like being restricted in my travels, and busses don´t like to stop every 10mins for a nice photo op!

Hi all,

rented bikes all over Asia, was never ask for a driving licence or ID ;)

About restrictions, in India the use of a rented bike is in some states restricted to the state where you hired the bike. Might be similar in other countries.

Minimum age might differ between countries as well; but I guess you're not under age and that should be enough...

They never do check.... as long as you can drive it out of the shop, they assume you know how to handle it.... Some places even teach absolute beginners how to ride a bike, in five minutes... so no worries i guess.

Since i have been in thailand i have been riding scooters and big motobikes in every city i have been to. all they ask for every time is a pasport. sometimes they keep your pasport till you bring the bike back and sometimes they will just get your number of it then give it back to you. you deffinatly dont need a motobike licence for any sized bike.
