It should be realtively easy, look on the noticeboards at you hostel for starters (which one are you staying at? I've stayed at the Greenhouse in Melbourne and would thoroughly recommend it!), and also try online - gumtree.com.au is a pretty good site. Take that 1st week to explore the suburbs of Melbourne and find the area's you'd like to live in. I'm a Kiwi who lived in Melbourne for a few of months in Kensington, a nice little area just a few train stations from the city centre. Good luck, I loved Melbourne so hope you do too

Hey. Theres a website called flatmate finders. You have to pay like $20 once u move in somewhere-but i reckon its worth it. The listings are really detailed and easy to search through. As previously suggested its good to have an idea of where u wanna live tho as well. One word of advice-flatshares over here dont tend to provide furniture like beds-whan u search the websites you will find loads more rooms if you look at those that dont have furniture included.

Good luck-im living in Melbourne so any questions feel free to ask!!

Hey mate,

Sounds like you might be established already, and im not sure if this is what you meant, but this site has to be one of the biggest for housing in aust.

www.realestate.com.au

Click on either "shared accom" or "Rental" after selecting VIC and you can see some of the places around.

Hi there,

finding a shared flat/house in Melbourne should be no problem and there's several options to look for one.
Either check out Melbourne gumtree or the noticeboard at Readings Bookstore, 309 Lygon Street, Carlton (Notices are on the lane way window and changed every Friday).
Alternatively you can have a look in the caf├ęs around Smith St. (Soul food, Friends of the Earth) in Collingwood and at Uni Melbourne notice board.
Hope this helps,

Steff
