Every September 22nd is World Carfree day. Can you put away your car keys for a day?

What does Carefree tampons have to do with car keys? also, why have a day named after a brand?

Quoting Mel.

I dont even own a car. Never have.
3 cheers for she who is an evironmenatal warrioress, all year round.

When we're all done patting ourselves on the back for mediocre environmentalist achievements, I would love to point out that Ireland and Germany are not very big. Cars are not necessary and the greater part of Eurpoe as a whole has no use for them. European towns are set up for walking not driving.

time to take our your environmental warrioress sword and put it bury it everytime you fly. *Airplanes* arent the most eco-friendly items on the planet.

How about trains?

somehow... cars arent sounding so bad now.

Carefree...hmmmm...funny thing is when I first read the post, i didn't see Carfree, I saw Carefree instead....and its not even that time of the month! Does that mean that if I don't need to be Carefree, I don't need to go Carfree either?

I'll agree with you on that one, I still didn't notice that it was Car Free until I read you post. Hell, must get my brain back into work mode.
But on Car Free day, well mine has been sitting outside the house for 18months now and the only movement has been the grass growing under it.

I'm driving down south after work tonight, I'm probably going to need the car on Saturday. Can the date be re-arranged?

i think it will be a tough one. even though i live inside a major city, i am totally dependent on my car. If I worked downtown, public transportation is really adequate. but I have a reverse commute, and with all the train/bus switches I have to make, i would have to leave for work hours ahead of time. but, i do try and take the train when i go into center city.

that being said, i'll try to not use the car saturday, although it would just be postponing what needs to be done to another day.

Ironically, the Metro was half empty today. Either I caught a lucky break or everyone stayed home.

Really off topic here but, did you know that yesterday (september 19) was international talk like a pirate day . Now isn't that a much more fun day than walk around because you can't use your car today day
