I'll make a trip to thailand next month.
and i've some doubts.
i've made reservations for hotels in Bangkok, Koh Lanta, Koh Tao and Koh Samui.
My doubt is how to make my transfers from one point to other?
someone can help me??
from bangkok to Koh Lanta i think that the best way is to go by plane to krabi or puket, rigjht?
And after that, how can i go from lanta to Tao? And from Tao to Samui?
I realy thanks your help
From Phuket to Samui, you can go buy road or air. the distance is about 500km.(??)
travelling form island to island is easy by ferry and there will be plenty of info available everywhere - hotels bars or travel shops.
By road - The town on the mainland near Samui is Suratthani - the ferries leave for Samui about an hour down the coast at Dhonsak. I'm not sure there are ferries from Suratthani itself any more - there used to be.
Suratthani has an airport as well as Samui which is cheaper to fly to but then you need to catch a ferry to Samui..............
Getting around in Thailand is not difficult.
I suggest u buy the Lonely Planet book of Thailand.
After the section for each place, the book gives an account of the options for how to get there and get away from there.
The book costs around 26 Euros and is available in most bookshops around the world.
Bangkok to Ko Lanta - Fly to Phuket or Krabi, then catch a boat
Ko Lanta to Ko Tao - Bus up through Krabi to Surat Thani, then boat
Ko Tao to Ko Samui - regular boat service that runs every day
Really don't worry about a thing, you dont even need to book accomadation in thailand its all very easy to sort out when there, koa tao is above koh samui so go there last,
i don't know how long you have but you can either night train, bus or plane down to karbi area i would recoment night train but DO NOT book it in advance or buy any combo tickets as they are all scams buy one at a time.
get a map in front of you if you want to get to koh lanta first then get there how ever you wish like i said plane is good to karbi obviously the fastest but train is the cheapest. either is fine. it will be easy to travel this area like seeing Phi Phi and phuket if you wish, just by walking into any travel agent of which there are hundres all over thialand everywhere you go. they can sort out bus, boat, day trips, money exchange, everything you want basically. i would aviod koh samui if i was you its pretty built up and pants these days. maybe head to kohpanyang then koh toa which is just above there is a caterman ferry which covers all three islands and you can turn up and book on the day no probs.
