Just wanted to know if anybody has a better way of getting to New Zealand than through the US, from Europe, tried his route and it's a killer as LAX is a disaster. Would prefer to go through Hong Kong or Singapore but not too sure what flights are available. Paris or Schipol the preferred routes.
When I researched this a couple of years ago, the south-east asia routes were significantly cheaper than the ones over the US, although that might have changed. Look at airlines like singapore airlines, emirates air, etc, although what I'd really recommend is to just walk into a real world travel agency and ask them for the cheapest fair for the rough time period that you're wanting to go. There's always odd promotions going on that'll come rolling out, and they can call up this information way faster than it'd take you going to site after site.
Im flying with Air New Zealand through Hong Kong to Auckland. But that is from London, Heathrow.
Thanks for advice, passed through Heathrow the other day coming in from LA to Dublin and it was like a refugee camp, thousands of people passing through a security checkpoint designed for hundreds. funny thing was, with all the security, I could have left the airport without ever having gone through passport control if I wasn't in transit.
If there is one thing Im really NOT looking forward too when im travelling, it is Heathrow! Never been there so I can only imagine...
I dont mind Heathrow but then again l quite like airports in general!
Like said Air New Zealand fly to Hong Kong via LHR to Auckland, they had been trying to promote this route as it was relatively new so prices were quite competitive - you could maybe fly to Japan and then on to NZ - lm not sure which carriers offer this - maybe try kayak.com to see what is offered out there? What about SFO or LAX to BKK or SGN ( HCMC Vietnam) and then on to NZ? Is that an option?
Might try Heathrow again as it seems to be the best option to get to Hong Kong, probably OK if there's enough time to go through security, I can't seem to find too many other options that will allow a stopover in Hong Kong or Singapore. The new Zealand air site is not too good!
