last one i promise,
i have spoken to other fellow travellers who have reckomended that i do trekking in pai rather than chang mai. i only have 6 days before i need to be in laos and obviously wont have time to spend in both.
whats better for trekking, pai or chaing mai? and would i be missing much in chaing if i only spent a day or two there?
is it easy to sort out trekking once in pai?
thats it! thanks again people!
I went treking in chiang mai for 3 days and 2 nights afew days ago and i really enjoyed it. i went elephant riding and white water rafting which was pretty good, i will warn there is quite a lot of walking in it and we had afew girls who went back to there guesthouse the second day because they didnt want to walk no more, majority will enjoy it though.
Im not sure about pie as ive ended up missing it out, but heard its nice, its suposably the wrong season at the moment though.
i went trekking in Pai and really enjoyed it. it's easy to organise once you are in Pai as there are offices in town which can arrange it for you. my boyfriend and I just did a day trek and we were the only ones on the trip so we had our own guide! most people seemed to do the 2 day treks though and we heard good reports about this too.
Pai is a a lovely little town to chill out in for a few days so i would recommend it, and the scenery is lovely for the treks.
There isn't loads to do in the town of Chiang Mai itself, so i think a day or 2 would be fine. you can get the bus from there to Pai. not sure whether you are going to Laos but if you so you can organise onward travel from Pai.
