Actually kruzinkiwi and watchdog55 (and quite a few others I suspect) are a good reason why the whole title thing is high up on the to do list to look at changing next. Since the number of each member group is limited, it's quite a lot harder these days to get up there when there now that are many more users on the site than when the title system first was launched.

Be scared, be very scared

ALWAYS had this question about Budding membership.
What is this?
What is the advantage to be in it?
How can I join if I decided to do so?
Thanks

Since the number of each member group is limited, ...

From what I know, there are limited seats for Travel Gurus and Respected Members. It is not the case for Full Members though. Or am I wrong?

You're right, that isn't limited. Member stats currently showing 655 Full members, but keep in mind a lot of these might never have posted in the forum to start with :) The current system is too complicated though; it needs to be a little more measurable I think which will leave the complicated stuff used, but not related to your title (or something to that avail...).

You instantly became a Budding Member when you joined TP. Everyone's rating begins with that designation. You have already "graduated" to Full Member. As Sam and Hien state above, Respected Member and Travel Guru take a bit more work and involvement to attain those designations. It's a mix of photo uploads, helpful forum responses (Off Topic and Introductions are not included), blog entries, possibly wiki contributions (not sure on that one), vacant "seating" and a super secret Overlord formula that play towards one's "promotion".

Apparently sending chocolate helps, too.

Well, not exactly. The moment you joined, there's no ranking - just a member. You will get "First time poster" on your first post in the forums. From the second post onwards, you'll be a budding member until you get promoted to a Full Member. However, the case will be slightly different if a member has never participated in the forums. I think the member will skip the first time poster stage.

Only if it is sent to the right persons!

Good Point, Hien - forgot about the "first time poster" thing for those who do post in the forums.

And guess what... Hien isn't one of them!!!! He only accepts durians. No one ever sends any as they are too smelly and the post office won't deliver them.
