English, German, some Polish. About three words of French.

I made a complete tit of myself in Paris - having been there for a week, I was convinced that I spoke enough French to be able to buy a packet of cigarettes. I went into a shop and the lady was all like "Monsieur" so I was all like "ahem, va Marlboro, c'il vous plait" (pardon my spelling, this is about SPEAKING, not writing). I was all proud of myself, expecting her to reach behind the counter and get me some cigarettes. Instead, with an inquisitive look on her, she asked me "Shrededebrededeshrededebre?" I later found out that she was asking something along the lines of "Regulars or lights?" I just had to stand there staring at her and nodding my head as if to say "Yeah I know I'm a dumb tourist."

^ Hahaha, that cracked me up, Mikey.

Well, my humble list goes:

- English
- Mandarin
- Dialects: Hokkien, Teochew, smattering of Cantonese (better at listening than speaking)
- some Italian

I learnt some French and Spanish, but I wouldn't say I can speak them - unless you count basic greetings, names and numbers, lol.

...so I was all like "ahem, va Marlboro, c'il vous plait"

You know, you told her to "Please go Marlboro yourself."

That would explain why three burly men hustled me outside and gave me the kicking of a lifetime. I thought the French just hated the British!
