So i entered a short story of mine called Serenaded after a few months of editing into the 76th annual writer's digest competition.
There are about 20,000 entrants. of ten categories, there were 4000 in my category alone, mainstream literary short story.
I placed 7th.
Holy f---ing s--t.I really don't know what to say, I was flipping out for a good four hours after i read the Email. I really cant believe it. This is the first competition i've ever entered in.
This is kind of a brag post, but i don't care. I put so much of myself into that writing, and seeing such monstrous results almost gave me a seziure.
to put it into perspective, 1st place gets instantly published, and the top 100 places are published in the writers digest 76th comp magazine. And i'll be number seven.
this is huge credentials for me, as a writer for trying to get published in the future.
thank you for you time
Good on ya.Its a good feeling when things like that happen.Especially when you put the time and effort in and get results.Just like me when I went in a poker comp and came 9th out of 10000 and won a @$%# load of cash
Congrats on your achievement! Like you said, this might be kind of a brag post. But as I see it, it's a good brag! That is if it's a brag at all. I look forward to reading your story soon.
Good for you Evan - well done - do we get to read the story????????
Brag away - your entitled to enjoy it!
Well done again
You are not bragging, you are simply proud of what you did, and so you should be proud.
What do u write about?
Are u going to at least post a paragraph of it here, so we can admire your achievement properly?
Nice one matey, that's some achievement.
Any publishing deals on the table? Can I reserve a signed copy?
Well done Evan,
Glad to see your skill being noted & appreciated.
Keep it up and have a good time celebrating
Congratulations!!!! Placing 7th out of 4000 is quite an accomplishment and well-deserved!!
Will your story also be posted on the Writer's Digest website or just in print?
Ooohhhh, and does the story have a flute in it??
Mucho congratulato!!! Keep us posted on the first printing!
