Wow - that's fantastic, Evan! Congratulations! Can we find your story online somewhere? If it's anything like you, it'll be a wonderful read!

Would you like to write a short synopsis of your short story for all of us.

Thank you for the complements and comments e'erybody. Really. its much appreciated.
its nine pages long so I'm not quite sure i could post it on TP.. i don't really know the mechanics of this whole dealy.
i'd be more than happy to share it with you guys, if you want a copy just msg me you're email and i'll be more than happy to send you a copy.

thanks for the vote of confidence, tina

kris, it actually is musical, in some sense.. i guess you have to read it to understand. I actually wrote it to beethoven's 9th symphony.. the music is playing in the background. believe it or not, the story started as a paper i had to write for my music class. It was supposed to be 4 pages and i turned in nine.. as you can imagine she wasn't so psyched ahaha. but i got an A

Isa, i don't think it will be published on the site. But my name will be. No, there's no flute in it, but it is irish as hell. [There is a flute-player in the book i'm writing =]

Don't worry Jase, celebrating is what i'm good at, hahaha.. thanks dude.

I hope so Mikey, it will make my life hell of a lot easier as far as getting published in the future.. but as for now, only first place gets a publishing deal. still pretty damn close i'd say.

Maybe i'll post a bit of it Mel.. kinda be a teaser, though.

Thanks james, i am proud, truly.

yeah heather i'm enjoying the hell out of this i'm quite ecstatic, for sure.

hien, you already got a copy

soo...synopsis..
its prettymuch about a young Irish man/boy whose sister gets sold off and his brother dies becuase his best friend sells them out in order to join the anti-british resistance. the protagonist goes with two companions to hunt down his friend, and.. well, you'll have to see. it takes place in 1850-1900 area of time, the story starts in scotland where they finally find his friend.

f-ck it, here's the first two paragraphs.

The sudden low staccato notes resonating outside the large wooden doors of the church didn’t help his nerves. The jagged gray-green countryside of quiet rocks and patchy vegetation sat chilled under a bright gray sky. Colin stared off as his gloved hands rose past his face to adjust his scally cap. He exhaled visibly, looking down at the worn fingerless gloves that once belonged to his brother. He clenched his fists in some forceful effort to stop his hands from trembling. His brother Donovan was dead, and he would probably never see his sister Deirdre again. He remembered the day she
followed Eamon to Belfast to try and stop him from becoming involved with those smugglers. He remembered his brother chasing after her the same day. Colin knew now he would never see their faces again. He had just stood there, confused, young, and alone.
Eamon was a man he once called his friend. A man... No, a boy, he grew up with. He ground his teeth staring at the strong, weathered wooden doors with cast iron ring handles hanging from thick iron bands. The wood behind the handles was worn down perfectly in their shape from years of use. He could taste the metallic tinge of blood on his tongue. He unclenched his jaw. His plaid scarf itched at his neck like it never had before. He’d come a long way from home, and his destination finally lay before him. Pity it was a church.

Congrats Evan, very excited for you on this one! What a fantastic encouragement..

Those first two paragraphs are tempting. Would definitely like to see more. I wonder, assuming that it is allowed under the terms of the competition, maybe you can self-publish it at a site like lulu.com . I'll buy a copy for sure just out of sheer curiosity ;)

Thanks Pete, i'm pretty psyched.

I didn't even know a site like lulu existed! i should look into that for sure..
I don't know about the publishing rights I'd have to check.

anywho, you've got quite the beautiful baby. Its gotta be cool, having a son.
despite my apprehension towards marriage, I've always thought it would be cool to raise a son.

take care of yourself dude.
