. Completely agree with Tracediva... Note... Update your iPod and tablets with new movies music etc... For those boring moments on LCCs. Or. When You are bored with time to kill in your hotel/motel/back packers and flights with nothing to watch or read ..

-respectable clothing
-visa
-passport
-casual attire
-footwear suitable for climbing and walking

I would add a multitool knife(but something with bigger blade and a spoon, if possible). Also, a paper map.
Yes, I am aware that google maps exist. A paper map can still be much more convenient.
