I wish I could say this post concerns some exotic Japanese dish only found on the island of Kyushu.
Nothing could be further from the truth!!!!
The slivers of raw chicken breast and leg dipped in a mix of soy, minced fresh garlic and chives served in a Kagoshima restaurant were delicious.
The spaghetti marinara I had the next night caused me four days of severe intestinal drainage and a case of dehydration which required brief hospitalisation.
The staff at the foreign info centre in Tokushima JR station called the hospital emergency department and organised an examination.
Fifteen minutes on the bus, 5 minutes to fill the engilsh form in, 10 minute wait for which the receptionist apologised profusely, five minute examination by the doc, one quick shot in the arm, thirty minutes on a saline drip, a handful of antibiotics and binders to last two days, 2 minutes to pay 9,140 Yen (about 90 AUD) and I was outa there and frisky as a new born lamb!!!
Bit like Dracula having half an hour in the bloodbank.
Am now in Kyoto and loving it.
