Quoting kombizz

how about protesting about American invasion to Afganistan, Iraq or Africa?

How about u protesting about it Kombizz?
I am doing this about Burma right now, because they may be on the verge of a revolution that may overthrow their evil cruel government, and I think it would be a good thing if as many people as possible in the world throw as much energy on it as possible. It takes a lot of energy to fuel a revolution. If we can give the Burmese people some hope with whatever support we can give, then maybe that will be what it takes to give them the energy they need.;)

Quoting Sam I Am

On a slightly different note; is it Burma or Myanmar?

Both.
It was Burma, before the current government came into power.
Then it became Myanmar.
Some still call it Burma, as a protest against the government.

There is now more information on my friends facebook about protest marches and meetings.
If u want me to check if there is more information for your location, let me know.
Also, everybody who wants is welcome to become a member of my friends site so u can read all the updated information yourself. Let me know if u are interested.

Here is a link to explain why some call it Burma and others call it Myanmar.

Here is a copy of a private mail I got from a member of TP who is a citizen of Burma. She/he did not say if he/she is in Burma right now. I presume he/she is. I will ask. I deleted any personal details the member gave me and his/her name, from the message below. If anybody wants to private mail her/him let me know, and I will send u the persons name by private mail.

Dear Mel,

There r terrible things happening in Burma right at this moment. We have no human rights. Our stupid military governement do as he like. Kill innocent people and monks. Arrested a lot of civilians and monks, destoryed monestries. They are forcing monks to change as normal human. Now Yangon is like killing field, only one side has wepons, Civilians don't have wepons. So they can't fight back.

Last night ( saturday night ) MR. Gambri just arrived to Myanmar, he will be going to discuss. We r expecting him. Now our governement put a lot of soldiers and army in everywhere in order people can't do demonstration when Mr. Gambri is in Myanmar.
We are waiting who can help Myanmar in this case. We needs human rights and decomarcy.

I am surfing net every hour to know latest information about Myanmar.

Thanks for yr concern

I just got another message, from the TP member who is a citizen of Myanmar.

Dear Mel,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I am not in Burma right now. Since last 2 days ago the governement cut off internet line from Burma, so no one inside Burma can use internet. I just can call, but can't talk about Demonstration through ph line, they make recording and if they hear something that we r talkin, they cut off the ph line. So we just wait and see news through online. Yesterday one of my friends came from Burma and he told a lot of things happening in Burma.

Soliders slapped monks before arrested and before they arresed people they hit many times, so a lot of blood are on the street. My friends said, Government used the people from jail who are long sentence or dead sentence, they give some wepons to them to give a hard strike to civilians. Civilans also believe that goverment give them some drugs to make their mind change ( e.g in their mind, they only know to follow the order and command, they want to kill all people). At first monks announced to public, just do peace demonstrations, so public don't have wepons or something to hit them back. That's why the day before yesterday more than 100 people had been killed.

Now a lot of soliders and security force are waiting outside of the monestires in order the monks not to go out for demonstration. Last 2 days ago they destoryed one monestry ( South Okklapa, Ngewkyaryan ) , they went to that monestry at 12 am in the mid night and they arrested all monks and people from monestery. They took everything from there, such as money about 2000 $ , TV, food and useful thing. They destoryed all things in that monestry.

Yesterday Mr. Gambri arrived to Myanmar, so they repair that monestry before Mr. Gambri check and replace some other monk ( probably fate monk).

We hope that Mr. Gambri can do something about Myanmar.

If I know more update news, I will send messages to you.

Pls support to Myanmar, Thanks

Mel, I am pleased that you are in touch with TP members from Myanmar. But, I'm afraid the posting of their private messages (sent to you) in the open forum could be considered a violation of privacy. Since you have not stated you have been given permission by these members to post their comments, I must ask that you please refrain from posting additional messages. I understand these members may not want their names listed here, but if they have given their approval to these posting - please have them contact me to say you have their approval. This is not just an issue of publicly displaying something that was sent privately, it could also be a very large legal issue for TP. Private messages are meant to remain private. If these members have not given their permission for public display, they could bring a lawsuit against TP for violation of their privacy rights. You may think I am exaggerating the situation (especially considering what is happening in Myanmar), but the legal issues are quite real. Again, please ask these individuals to contact me verifying their approval. Their private messages to me will remain private.

Private messages have never been allowed to be posted in the open forums. Those who have done so in the past, or have shared private messages with other members without permission have been disciplined. I realize they are giving you information about the situation in Myanmar, but let's please handle this information appropriately. Thank you.

Quoting Mel.

Isadora, I told them that I would post whatever they want to say, here and on other sites.

That's fine, then those members will have no problem with either stating in this thread that they have given their permission to you or sending a private message to the same affect. Posting information from private messages is not allowed on TP for the reasons I gave, those being the legal issues. Until otherwise verified, only you know what these members have agreed to and it is not enough to protect TP (and all of it's members) from lawsuits. I suggest you contact Admin. about this matter before posting additional information received through private messages.
