hello everyone, so i'm headed off on my first trip to S. Asia on the 30th of October and the one nagging question that i cant seem to find an answer for is: is there a bus from Suvarnabhumi airport to th Khao san or general democracy monument area? if so which one? and where does it stop? i figure someone must have done it by now.... any help appreciated

-*-
When you take a cheap city bus there usually is some additional walking involved to get to your hotel, the last time I took a city bus the fare was 35 baht. The bus station at the airport is pretty good and the bus numbers are clearly marked.

Airport Express Bus (150 baht) stops running around midnight. The Airport Express bus sign up kiosk is near door 8 on the bottom level of the airport. This Airport bus may take oven an hour to get close to your hotel. A taxi takes around a half hour right to the hotel doorstep! Two people taking a taxi and sharing the cost is around the same as 2 people using the Express bus. Taxi fares are for everyone you can safely stuff in a taxi - around 350 baht to KSR.

Have the exact name for your hotel as well as the street number to make it easier to find it.

Really young travelers often stay in the Khao San Road area, other experienced travelers may prefer the Sukhumvit or Siam areas so that they can take advantage of the cheap Skytrain. No Skytrain in the KSR area!

At least check out some previous posts that have recommendations for hotels in the KSR area so that you have a few "targets" to shoot for! You could also download a map of the area too!

If you take the Airport Express Bus (150 baht, compared to America and Europe it's a real bargain) you will ALSO have a chance to query some of the other passengers for their recommendations for accommodations in the KSR area.

Hey tortuga...

Hopefully you are clear about directions to KSR from Suvranbhumi airport... but if you are flying from Thai Air... then just for fun... try asking this question from Cabin crew...

I did it when they started the in-flite movie... and 7 of them had a group meeting for around 25 minuntes... and came up with ....... NOTHING... !!! hahah a gud way to kill some time on-board.... u can have a drink while listening to them... definitely more entertaining than in-flite movie....

Cheers & Have a safe trip...

Hi Tortuga,

You can get infos from our Travel Guide on this side to get from Suvarnabhumi airport to Khaosan Rd.

Once you get there, just choose any guesthouse that you want. Plenty of them there.
