Shortest flight from Canada to Europe?

Travel Forums General Talk Shortest flight from Canada to Europe?

Hello, wondering if somone can suggest the shortest flight from anywhere in Canada, to anywhere in Europe, basically, I just want to get across the water with as little time spent in the air as possible. If anyone could reccommend a good map of airports, that'd be swell also.

Any ideas infact, for getting from Canada to Europe, would be dandy.

Yes, I hate to fly. hate.

Thanks!

Heya Arron!

I did a quickie search for you on expedia.ca...looks like the shortest flight is from St. John's Newfoundland to London, UK. It lasts about 5 hrs.

As for other ideas...I don't have that many. I've heard that you can get overseas by ship - but that must be pain-stakingly long. I guess it depends how bad your fear of flying is (to want to spend who knows how long on a boat!).

Do you hate to fly in general or just over water? Not that the answer would have any bearing on this discussion, just an inquiring mind wants to know :)

I know you've probably heard all of this before, but flying isn't that bad. As long as you just think that you're in a room in a building rather than an airplane way up in the sky, you should be ok (that's what I do anyways, and it works for me).

Anyways, I hope that helped!

Cheers,
Katie ;)

Don't listen to Katie. Flying really is that bad (although admittedly i've never tried it).

There are freighters that you can book, which normally take 10-12days. Most seem to be Montreal - Continental Europe (a few ports, but normally 2 or 3 of Le Havre, Antwerpen, Rotterdam and Hamburg), which may be better. It's the way i'm planning to hit Canada, although the cost ain't that cheap.

From Canada to Ierland. Or take real short flights through Icleland, Gramby... or maybe take the great circle flight from Calgary Alberta or Quebec, then fly to Russia, from Russia drive to Europe, its a long trip, but less flights!!

Gelli: I stick out my tongue at you

Zifi: I actually checked out flights to Ireland, they were longer than going to London....how odd
