Anyone got any advice on what I could do regarding my backpack which I had shipped home in March. It still hasn't arrived at my home and it's now 6 months later. I have sent 2 enquiries to the company and neither have been responded to.

Is there a chance it's just delayed or could it be that I'll never get it back?? :(
Anyone shipped stuff before? Did it take this long?!?!?!?

i thought most companies say 3 months for shipping between the UK and oz/nz - mine took exactly that from NZ to the UK, but there is a chance there could have been a delay. it's odd that the company haven't responded though- have they not got a contact phone number you could try?

Couple of queries,

1 where was it sent from? did you organise?

2 air or sea freight? did you specify?

3 Did you have insurance? either travel or as part of the delivery agreement?

4 Do you have any documentation, what type?

5. What type of contract was it, where there any freight costs to be paid on delivery?

6. What was the destination for delivery?

If it was sent as unaccompanied baggage with the same airline, it may be being held at the airport you arrived at most likely where you passed through Customs.

If it was with a company like DHL(example only no association implied) you should have a receipt go through the nearest local office(preferrable to an agent) do it in person it gives some one a personal association, suprising how much difference this can make.

All the last known company to have the items becomes responsible for it, all freight companies use the standard "we are not a common carrier" disclaimer that limits liability but they still have some, last time I work there it was about US$1500 so your at least entitled to a payment.

1. It was sent from Travellers Contact Point in Sydney. I organised it in so much as I brought it to their office & filled in the paperwork.
2. It's sea freight. And yes I specified at the time.
3. Yes I had travel insurance but I expect that it is too long expired now to claim. I don't know. I think I paid the extra $20 or whatever it was to get the extra cover.
4. This is where I run into trouble. I always keep these kind of documents very safe but somewhere along the line I seem to have misplaced the documents. I haven't been able to turn them up. Unfortunately this means I don't have a lot of the info I would need and the T&C etc.... :(
5. It is door to door delivery service. And I am not aware of any costs that need to be paid on delivery. I presume I would be contacted if there was any issue such as this with delivery.
6. The destination is Dublin.

There's no airline involved, there's no international courier company involved. I filled in all the forms with the guidance of the staff in Travellers Contact Point so believe them to be all fine.

I am getting sooo pissed off now that it's 6 months and absolutely no sign whatsoever..... :(
