Austria is a good place for Christmas markets (Vienna. Salzburg as well as other places) . Also Germany.

There are loads of great things to see in the UK at christmas, Manchester has quite a nice international market at christmas and you can't beat going to see the lights and window dressing down on Oxford Street in London

The Manchester market is really good and is becoming more and more popular. There are many different stalls selling food, jewellery, crafts etc from various different european countries. It runs from late November until the week before Christmas.

I went to the christmas market in Heidelberg, Germany a few years ago, a bit touristy but very pretty! I think Germany and Austria are the countries to go to for traditional Christmas markets. The Manchester one does look quite fun though.

The most famous one in Germany is in Nuernberg. Never been there, but I suppose it is famous for a reason.

I personally liked the one in Riga, Latvia. Lots of handcrafts and art.

BTW, Christmas markets in Germany start at the end of November and go until Christmas Eve, so you'll likely have time to visit more than just one.
