If you prefer land accommodation, I can recommend CrystalDive and StingrayDivers on Koh Tao.
If you prefer liveaboard, I can recommend ScubaCat (Phuket) and SeaDragon (Khao Lak, 80 km north of Phuket).
Good prices, high quality, friendly staff.

My friend got his open water and advanced with Crystal Dive and I went with them on a few fun dives. Quality, price and staff where indeed great and accomodation (mine aswell) was included in the price of the course. All in all a good choice!

Hi Selani,

I was taken my OWD course in November 2005 on Phuket (ScubaCat). I take a manual in the evening and read it. Then I complete my course in a 3 days: 1st day - theory and swimming pool sessions, 2nd and 3rd day - open water sessions and final exam.
According PADI recommendation OWD course will be taken for 3-5 days.
If I remember right, it was costs me 10,000 baths.
You can check websites of quoted dive centers and get actual prices.
BTW, in many cases when you book in advance (via web-site) you will get an additional discount :)
