clarife has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Hi,

We are in Kanchanaburi and are looking to go direct to Ayutthaya to get the sleeper train to Chiang Mai. We don't want to go back to Bangkok, does anybody know of a way to get to Ayutthaya directly from Kanchanaburi?

Any help would be great

Thanks!

No, you cannot do that. They use different railway station for the two directions.

The Bangkok - Kanchanaburi train route depart and arrive at "Bangkok Noi" station which is across Chaopraya River from the Grand Palace Area. Then, for the major routes... e.g. Bangkok - Chiang Mai, Bangkok - Hat Yai... etc. you must use the Central Station (Hua Lum Pong)

I don't think you could do Kanchanaburi - Chiangmai directly without getting off the train at Bangkok Noi Station, hop on a taxi or Tuk Tuk, hop off at Hua Lum Pong. The taxi fare (on the meter) between these two stations should not exceed 120 Baht (US$ 4).

Good luck!
Chada

What about take bus Kanchanaburi - Suphanburi, then bus Suphanburi - Ayuthaya and catch train to ChiangMai?
It will be shorter than via Bangkok...
