Has anyone tried booking through this service? I do not understand something: When I book a hostel, I get a 10% non-refundable deposit + 2 USD service charge. Now, at the end of my stay at the hostel - should I pay 90% to the hostel or 100%? In other words, is the 10% is for the hostel or the "Reservations.bookhostels.com" service?

At the time of booking, you pay 10% of the total sum plus USD2 service charge to the website.
When you arrive at the hostel, you pay the remaining 90% to the hostel. If you don't turn up, the 10% you paid online will be forfeited.

Hien said it correct.
If you book you will get the booking confirmation where it says that you have to pay the 90% rest payment by arrival.
It works perfect,I have done it several times. If you dont show you will not be charged for the full amount, only the 10% plus the $2 are lost.

Thanks! It was very helpful. I just hope the hostels owners will agree with you. The one in Madrid did not, but he was weird anyhow.
