I am about to move to Berlin next month, have found an apartment as well.
Does anyone know any online news or news paper in English that covers local information, news, etc?
And if foreign students can work legally in Germany, and for how many hours?
I am also a foreigner in Germany.
Since Denmark is an EU member, u can work as much as u want in Germany.
U do not need a work permit. U will likely need a residence permit, but these are not difficult to get. U just go to the Auslanderamt with a photo of yourself and fill in a form.
To get more detailed information about the residence permit send a private mail to t_maia. She knows all about this sort of thing.

I'm always happy to hear when someone foreign moves to Berlin . There is a few English magazines you can get in Berlin such as the Ex-Berliner or check here for some more information. If you have any more questions about Berlin in general let me know!
I am actually a Canadian, so I will need to get some sort of long stay visa or student visa so I can work, I hope.
My boyfriend is German, who I will move to Berlin with. But unfortunately, the German Government doesn't recognize “common law” partner as we do in Canada. I am currently researching how to get the kind of visa, which allows me to stay in Berlin longer than 3 months. (Canadians can stay in most EU countries without a visa for up to 3 months, I am in Denmark on a work/resident permit ). I will write to Maria (t_maria) as you suggested.
Thanks for the tips. If you have more info, please feel free to send me.
