I wanted to know if its possible to find accommodation in these places when I get there as it will be high season and if anyone can give me a rough idea of the cost too.

You didn't say when you were going exactly. However, I visited Phi Phi over Christmas last yr (arriving 24th Dec) and managed to find a place. Most places really hike up the prices though. We paid 800 Baht for a place on the way up to the view point (10 mins from beach), but most places closer were full or charging 1000-1500 for a room for two people. Personally, I never book ahead (unless I'm arriving in new country in middle of the night) but if it will give you peace of mind, it may be worth it - and it does save you wandering from place to place with 15kg on your back in the heat after a long journey....

Hi Clarieh

The dates would be around 12/11/07 till 22/11/07. I plan to arrive in Phuket stay fora few days then go on to Phi Phi for 1/2 nites then to Krabi for 1/2 nites. then to bangkok for 2/3 nights then fly out of thailand to India.

Any suggestions in relation to accommodation in these places would be good as I would prefer to arrive and then book the place to stay.

Also how can I get from Phuket to the other places ie from Phuket to Phi Phi adn then on to Krabi as I would fly from Krabi to Bangkok.

Any other suggestion please feel free. I have no plans atm but this is my tentative route.

cheers

Hi Smoothie,

I have been to the same places that you have mentioned last year. I stayed in a hotel called "Kinnara House" in phi phi. A low profile accomadation , but cheap though. I remember paying around 600 baht per day. Not sure now as the how the prices will be. phi phi being small place i would advice u to book a room in advance..so u can go with a peace of mind..And about travel plans

u have ferries to go from phuket to phi phi and phi phi to krabi..hotels can help u book a ticket in the ferry..

general suggestions:

1) Phuket : In phuket u have very good night life in patong beach area..must see...some nice bars around :-)
But i am not personally impressed with the patong beach..but night life is worth there..

2) Phi phi island: from phuket catch a ferry to phi phi..phi phi islands is a very very nice place , must see..i would recommend u take para sailing from there..20 mins trip over whole of phi phi..the view from top is amazing and i loved it..also if u have time take the sun set trip from there..trip takes u along all small islands in phi phi and u get to see monkey beach etc..also rafting..lots of sea food on dance party over sun set..i am sure u will love it..the view point from phi phi is too good..but u will have to climb very steap..suggest dropping most of the luggages
at hotel and start to view point..

3) Krabi : Though krabi has 4 or 5 beaches, Aanang beach is the one is which is too good...i would say rent a bike(gearless) from there and go rampage on the roads via villages..u will love that scene..i did that..

any Qs contact me... i am from india ..from ur post i can see ur next destination is india..welcome to india..which place in india u are coming to..

I was there in November 2005 and the weather was amazing, we had maybe 2 days of cloud and the rest was always sunshine.

When you get off the ferry at Phi Phi you will be crowded with people offering their guest houses etc - the usual. I really like staying further from the beach on the hill as it was so beautiful but it was really dark etc walking home at night (this may have changed as it was only one year after the tsunami) but I did like the fact that it was cheaper. I stayed at the Garden Inn Bungalows (just google the name) you can book in advance, they are slightly expensive for Thailand rates but maybe it's a good place to book for maybe one of two nights until you get to know the island.

Make sure you go to Hippes bar over the other side, I didn't come across this till the 2nd time I visited Phi Phi (there was only a gap of 2 weeks between visits and I was only there for 3 days the first time).....it's a cool place though, is on the beach and is open all the time......the toilets are horrendous though but you will get used to that! Also - best restaurant is Pattaya next to Tiger bar......amazing!

Enjoy!
