itchyfeet2 has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

Hi Everyone ... I see that there are hundreds of posts on the best way to spend time in S.E.A but incase there are any new opinions or suggestions, I wanted to post this (i'd be gutted if i missed out anything)

My friend & I arrive in Bangkok 27th November and have almost a full 3 months. We have planned to visit Laos, Camobdia & Vietnam - chill time on the Thai beaches then onto Malaysia eventually fly Singapore to Auckland.

Last time I travelled was 7 years ago and that was around Australialia so this trip will be a whole different experience (and possibly my last chance to travel) - so im extra keen to make it one to remember!

Any advice & helpful tips would be amazing.
THanks once again!!
Linzi

where is your start landing point? it depends on your budget too.

you probably go to laos and visit laung prabang for couple of days before going to hanoi and visit sapa..if you like hiking..it's the higest peak in this region. then halong bay either a day trip or overnight onboard or at a hotel in cat ba island.

water puppet is something you should try and cyclo too.

from hanoi you can either fly with vietnam airlines or pacific airlines or overnight train to get to hue.

DMZ in Hue is recommended and also trip along perfume river.

from hue..you probably visit danang to marble mountain and charm museum before going to hoi an.

open bus is available where you can stop at some places until you reach HCMC. from there..cuchi, can tho , mekhon delta...and fly to phnom penh or siem riep. for 4 - 5 days to see temples and killing fields.

thailand for a month from north down south to malaysia and a night or so in spore is not bad.

Hey Corpet,... thanks for that - sounds good - i'll be doing a lot of research before i leave - we depart Scotland via Dubai and land Bangkok - my friend has travelled SEA and knows his way but I'd still like to have my own ideas and we can put our heads together - hopefully create the perfect itinerary...!!!

Thanks again!!!

Hi!i've spent 4 weeks in Indochina, not have enough time to travel much like you but from my trip, i think that i can suggesst you destinations to go in Indochina: Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. You should spend 1months in this area and your Indochina trip should start from Thailand, you fly to Cambodia, 5 days visit Phnom Penh- Siemreap ( your itinerary should include visiting: The Royal Palace, Wat Phnom, Angko Wat, Angko Thom, Boating on Tonle Sap....). From Cambodia, take flight to Vietnam. Vietnam tour starting from Hanoi ( visit Hochiminh complex, Cyclo around the Old Quarter, Watching water puppetry show)-2 days. 2 Days in Halong Bay before back to Hanoi for Sapa tour- 3 days. From Hanoi, get flight to Hue then drive via Haivan Pass to Danang, visit Hoi An old town and Myson Holy Land. There are places to spend time such as: NhaTrang Beach, Mui Ne beach, Dalat city, Hochiminh city, Mekong delta... all are not to be missed. From HCMC, you fly to Vientiane- Laos and start your trip of 5 days in Vientiane and Luang Prabang. If this is your first trip to S.E.A, i advice you to have a tourist company to do all things for your trip, it's much cheaper and you don't have to worry about any thing in your long time travel. I used Vptour at vptour.com.vn- a tourist company in Hanoi- Vietnam and they create my trip to Indochina perfectly from arrival to departure. I see they are good company with professional service and reasonable rates. You can check and hope you have a nice trip.
