I haven't stayed at this place but I live round the corner from it so can recommend it on the basis of it being in a central location close to loads of bars and shops. I did see it recommended in a newspaper the other day too.

There is also the YHA but this isn't in as good a location.

Hi :)

I've stayed in Hatters and to tell you like what bex76 said it was quite good location. The kitchen and lounge i would rate was average. The dorm i stayed in, there was like 2 or 3 days (i can't remember) where simple housekeep wasn't done. There was a 'long termer' in the dorm, and his stuff were pretty messy. I caught conjunctivitis from there but maybe it might be from another source.
I didn't have a good experience though maybe i was there at the *wrong timing*, sometimes you get hostels running low on staff. I was in another hostel, where cutleries and cook tools used by some guest just got piled up in the sink and had to have the staff to clean them. But i had a good experience because the place made me fell very comfortable and homely. I guess we play a part in keeping the place neat.
