Is the WHV approved online or do they send you out a visa or is it just on a computer at the airport where you land in Australia

They send you an email (I think, nowadays, although a couple of years ago for me they still sent a real world letter) and mark it in their computers when your WHV is approved, which shows up for immigration when you arrive at the airport. You then still need to get the visa sticker put into your passport (possible right there at the airport in Sydney (immediately after passport control), and otherwise at the immigration offices in various big cities), so that you can show that to employers.

Working Holiday Visa - really a simple google check and you would have found this information and detail quite easily.
