Im heading off to Thailand in a few months time. After spending sometime in Bangkok I plan to head South to koa phangan. After experiancing a Full Moon party I want to find a paradise island to chill out on (the beach like ). Do these islands even still exist? Any suggestions would be helpful.

I posted this in other forum aswell before finding this one.

cheers

Yeah there are still places that exsist that are pure paradise and the reason is that they're pretty well unknown to tourists and hopefully will stay that way. Once the masses find out they'll turn into the same as the rest, full moon parties, beach bars, paradise lost!

You want to find somewhere like that you need to have the time to explore.

The Beach was filmed on Maya Bay at Koh Phi Phi Leh, but it's just that, a bay, not a secret lagoon, the cliffs were partially CG'd in for the film. And travellers can only go there on guided tours for a few hours of snorkeling. But...I did love the concept of the Beach (the book, much better detail than the movie, personally) and as much as I myself would love to find an Eden, it would just eventually turn into the rest of the islands, ruined by overpopulation and tourists and parties, exactly what Mister Duck killed himself over....
If you want a tourist-free paradise, I'd skip the Full Moon Party if I were you

But have fun! I'm off to Thailand in a bit myself!

Thanks for the responses. I agree the book is much better than the film and its good to hear paradise does still exist I'm just going to have to look for it and seeing as im going to be in SE asia for atleast a year hopefully I will find it. Although I will try to avoid going the same way Mister Duck did when it eventually gets taken over;)

Hat Salat is in the north of Phangnan, and although not an island.. it's absolutely beautiful, you can take boat trip's from here to beaches & coves that are unreachable on land. There's an awesome place to stay called salad hut, plus it's not too far from Haad Rin but so totally different, so the best of both worlds!

Have an amazing time, em :)
