And Göteborg/Gothenberg is lovely city and a useful half way house between all 3...

I like all 3 cities for differening reasons. Of them Kbh/Cph is easiest for me (last weekend in August Sam? - it has possibilities, and i'm sure i may at least consider the possibility of a beer. We had the startings of a similar idea with Sole a couple of months back)
But i get to Stockholm quite often as well as it is a wonderful city - and i'd be happy enough to make a trip to Oslo if that's the plan (although it's more expensive there)

To be honest though, if somebody suggested Bergen or Tromsø or somewhere more out of the way, it would make a good excuse for me to go on holiday for a few days, and i'd be happy to go more or less anywhere

Tolemak/Sam - i'm from the other side of the spectrum. Instead of always coming up with a reason to drink beer, i don't bother. I just drink it anyway. But as we're all alkies anyway by the sounds of things, it doesn't really matter

I'll be in Copenhagen the last weekend of august for sure. Meeting up with friends from Holland for beers. It's a social bunch though and if you're nearby it would be great if could drop by. I was thinking of a more official 'TP meetup in Scandinavia' a little later....

Good point on Oslo being more expensive; would certainly justify doing it outside of Norway in general.... maybe we should do it on the ferry? :)

Stockholm - Finland/Estonia ferries are good. The journey from central Stockholm out into the open seas is about 6hours, and totally amazing in itself, whilst i do seem to recall the presence of a watering hole or two as well.

Oslo - Helsingborg/Copenhagen has it's moments as well.

Well I live in a little town called stavanger in Norway. but I agree with gelli, if we were to have a Scandinavian TP meet-up it would be wize not to choose the most expensive country to host it.
Never been to Stockholm, so that sounds good to me. but then again, copenhagen is a great place to party as well. ( and denmark has the better beer of the scandinavian countries)

But here we are, three people discussing this, there must be more out there? How many you think we could expekt to show up?

Damn, did I miss you guys in Copenhagen in August. I was so tied up with work (and still am) that I didn't read a lot here, but I would definitely have been able to go out for a drink or 2.... or 3 ;)

So if this Scandinavian TP meet-up ever comes to something I'm definitely in for Copenhagen and might also be able to make it to Stockholm, Oslo, Gothenburg or whereever.

Hey Sole,
Your not the only one. I've also been really busy of late and away quite a bit, and the Scand TP meet never happened (that i know of, anyway). However, Glorious leader Sam has set a date in early Feb 2005 (can't remember exactly, but might be first w/e in Feb) for a confirmed TP get together in Stockholm. There is a thread somewhere, but i don't have it to hand, sorry. Will try and remember to have a search and post the link.
Enjoy working. Rich, (yesterday in cold wet copenhagen, now in cold wet Kristianstad and shortly to be off to just plain fr1gging cold Kautokeino)

Hi Rich,

hehehehe, about the cold places we've chosen to spend our life

OK, so no meet-up in August. I have found the thread about the Stockholm meet-up, it started with talk about Rach-a's idea about meet-ups every 3 months or so (http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=5882). From there the idea of Stockholm came up, but that sort of died and since then nothing has really happened.

I think I would be able to make it to Stockholm that week-end, have been checking prices on Nordic Airlink, and there are still a good bargain for that week-end. So we might alert Sam and have him arrange something, think I saw him mention somewhere, that he really should get around to do some organizing for a Scandinavian meet-up.

And for enjoying working, well, pheeewwww, it's really too damn much at the moment, but it'll hopefully get better in February, March.

Ok, ok, I hear the message loud and clear!

So, I've gone ahead and solidified things a little more with a separate thread dedicated specifically to this weekends meetup. Aside from parts of my body falling off and other scary unforseen things, I will be there, most likely with the wife if she is up for it. She even speaks a spot of Swedish which could come in handy.

The dedicated thread is located here: http://www.travellerspoint.com/forum.cfm?thread=6694

Hope to see a bunch of you there!

Cheers,

Sam
