I'm planning a surfing / snowboarding trip to Canada (most of the year) and USA next year on my own and was wondering if there is anyone out there who has surfed in Canada. I hear Vancouver Island has a few breaks. If anyone has any help with what sort of gear is needed (wet suits etc.), places to go and how surfboard friendly the country is for getting around I would be very greatful.
I am not a surfer, but I do know there is a surfing on both coasts. I saw a news story on the CBC once...
Here's a website you might want to check out. http://www.surfingvancouverisland.com/surf/
And while I know there is surfing on the West and East coasts, I can categorically say there is no surfing in Toronto
I didn't realise there was surf on the east coast as well. I'll have to suss it out. Cheers for the info
The water on the East Coast is brutally cold-sure death to an Ocker I can guarantee it.
On the West Coast it's 'somewhat warmer' but no picnic-full neoprenes are the rule.
www.coastalbc.com has all kinds of info but be aware that some spots like Jordan River are quite crowded and people aren't all that friendly to newbies.
