I land in the Netherlands at Schilpol Airport on the morning of 29th October. I shall be staying in the hotel Le Meridien Des Indes in Den Haag. The hotel is located in Der Lange Voorhout. I have a few questions about getting from the Airport to the Hotel.
What is the best way to get from the airport to the hotel? - Train, Taxi, bus, etc.
In case of train is it possible to get tickets at the station itself, and how far are the stations from the airport and the hotel?
In case of taxi are there prepaid taxis available at the airport?
How much would be the fare for the bus, train and taxi?
Are all the modes equally safe or should i watch out for something (overcharging cabbies, crowded trains etc.)?
Lastly, which is a better way to see the surroundnig area
Loads of questions i think...but thank you all for the reply.
At Schiphol, take the train (walk into the entrance hall, buy a ticket to "Den Haag Centraal Station" at one of the yellow machines there (the machines at Schiphol take creditcard, but be aware that they don't in the rest of the country; a single trip will cost you €7) and take the escalators down to the track (should be track 4). The train goes every half hour, at :03 and :33, and takes half an hour.
At Den Haag Central Station, it's about a 10 minute walk to the hotel (rough route at google maps), although there you could take a taxi, or go one stop by tram (to "Malieveld" or "Korte Voorhout") if you have a lot of luggage.
(Oh, and train really is the only option: it's swifter (much swifter during rush hour) and much cheaper than taxi, and you'll see about the same. I don't think there's any direct bus, but if there was, it'd probably take 1.5-2 hours for the same distance.)

Yes, as Sander has explained in detail, the train is the best way. It won't take too long and you can easily get tickets at the station.
If you're going to be visiting around Den Haag... well, buses & trams are pretty convenient. Just remember to get a strippenkart - you can get it from the train station or from local shops, it comes in a strip of 15 tickets, if I remember correctly - and you should be okay to go. But be careful of where you're going, because if you're going to be crossing zones, you need to pay the correct fare.
The :03 and :33 trains are Sneltreins - express trains. It goes Schiphol - Leiden Centraal - Den Haag Centraal. There are others that stop at every stop along the way and take about 2h to reach Den Haag. Taxi from Schiphol to Den Haag costs at least 80euros, from what a friend told me.
Airport to hotel - I recommend taxi rather than walking or lugging luggage up and down the trams. Short distance won't cost that much. At Den Haag Centraal go through the exit next to Burger King to get to the cabs. They all run by meter.
If they're still open you can get Strippenkaarts when you arrive at Den Haag Centraal, at a newsagents called Bruno or a little kiosk next to it. The 15 stripes one costs about 7euros. In buses the driver stamps the card for you (tell them where you're going or how many stripes) and in trams you stamp them yourself. However some of the trams are now electronic and you need to stamp your card at the tramstop before you board.
