Hello,

Passing through Hong Kong in March. Wondering if it's worth waiting and buying a new camera lens there. Looking at Nikon equipment. Anyone have any good tips. Where not to go. Good reputable shops with good deals. We don't know where we are staying yet. Somewhere central I guess. ?close to the airport? We will have 1 night at the beginning of our trip (when we would most likely buy it) and then 2 nights at the very end of our trip.

Thanks
Ali

Hi Ali,
When i was there I spent a bit of time looking around Kowloon as it has loads of shops, the shopping experience is great.
As for prices, check out the internet for a rough idea on how much the sort of kit your looking for costs.
Keep this in mind when haggling.
I bought a compact whilst i was there I didn't save that much but the experience was worth it.
Enjoy & remember the prices ARE negotiable.

Always a good idea to find out the price in europe or in the USA before try to purchase any equipments that might the manufacture do not want to accept the repair business of them !

you can try shops like Wing Shing or Man Shing.

Another shop to get your stuff is Tin Cheung.

Most of these places price their stuff very reasonably.

I bought an expensive Nikkor lens from Wing Shing and have have had no problems. The price was comparable to the U/S internet BUT they had things that were B/O'd.
