ottawapal has indicated that this thread is about Australia

I'm heading to Cairns/Darwin area this monthhs. Do I need any malaria shots or some similar things?

I know Australia is a civilized country but better ask :)

What the government of Canada RECOMMENDS:

Travellers should ensure that their routine (childhood) immunizations (eg. tetanus, diphtheria, polio, measles) are up-to-date. Yellow fever vaccination may be required to enter some countries. Based on the risk of exposure, vaccines for hepatitis A, typhoid fever, or other diseases may also be recommended.

As far as I can tell, no vaccinations are REQUIRED to enter Australia, unless you come from a yellow fever zone, which Canada is not.

nah you're pretty safe here, i don't think we are in the malaria zone yet, however ross river fever is carried by mozzies and there isn't much u can do about it - and once u have it u never get rid of it - i know i caught it and it sucks - just use repellant. other than that australia is really clean so you are unlikely to get sick unless u eat dodgey old seafood

Hey guys,
I went to see my GP and we looked at government documents and you DO NOT need any shoots whats so ever if you are going to Oz or NZ. If you plan on going to Fiji then you have to have your Hepatitis A & B shot.

Jo, You don't need to worry about avoiding the seafood in Oz. Like anywhere just make sure you don't eat at a really dodgy restraunt. I love seafood too and have never had food poisoning, and have never heard of it being a big problem. You'll be fine and make sure you throw a few shrimps on a barbie as some stage!!

Cheers BB
