I'm planning to travel alors Central America for 3 months next autumn, starting October. I'll then start a volunteering programme in Mexico for marine research in January.
I have 3 full months to visit Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras & Guatemala. Is that enough? I'll may shorten my stay in one place to go to Belize or San Salavador. Do you think I'll have enough time to see all most beautiful parts?
Also, heard that October is rainy season... How would you describe it? Is that rainy rainy? Or rainy season as it is in south east Asia with only a few rains per day?
Can't wait to be there!!!
Thanks for your advise... Any tips is welcome!
october is almost the end of the rain season it doesnt rain that much anymore and it becomes a bit windy i guess 3 months is enough time to see al the best parts in C.A.
If you come to El Salvador look me up in Suchitoto. Three months is plenty of time if you spend it traveling and not getting hung up in just one spot...have a great trip
saludos for el salvador

rpbroz and luis28 exactly right..El Salvador is a small country and many of the sights may be seen in a week or 10 maximum, people are very friendly and there are a minimum of tourists, as you will encounter in parts of Costa Rica, although locals head to the beach, mountains and national parks on Sundays and Holidays in droves. You are able to get a virtual tour of El Salvador on www 4elsalvador dot com and really excellent Central American travel information on www alfatravelguide dot com, I would also recommend the guidebook Footprint Mexico & Central America Handbook, published in the UK and very detailed.
I'm going to be flying into Costa Rica in Jan/08 and traveling north for 3-4 months. I was wonder if anyone knows if there is some sort of open-ended return ticket that I can buy that would allow me to leave from anywhere in Central America? I know I'm flying into San Jose but I won't know what country I might be in when I have to leave. Thanks for any help!
For international flights WITHIN the countries Central America (except Panama) there is only one option TACA Airlines, go onto their site and try and book a coupon flight if available, as regular flights within C.A. are expensive www.taca.com
