Hello travelers, I was wondering what advice people could give me on making my travel plans from Turkey to India. I don't have a particular want to go through the middle east, for obvious reasons. However, I noticed that I may be able to route up through Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, and China, then down into India through Nepal. Any thoughts?
yes! if you want to go from turkey, through russia, to get to india? i suggest, taking the tran-siberian!! it's a train that goes all the way across russia - there are a few lines, depending where you're turning, the trans-mongolian (goes to mongolia) - but you have to get off at a certain stop in russia - and the same goes for the trans- ok, i forget the name. but it goes through to china (from random russian stop, i don't know off the top of my head). google trans siberian, and you'll find more on it (there's this uk site that explains pretty well). but yes - down from china, to nepal, as you say, and onwards. that's my suggestion!
but this also may be the suggestion of a lunatic, since i love trains.
i'm considering that sort of route coming back from se asia.
Actually, here's the link - it shows you a picture of where the train lines go (just scroll down)

Hullo. The site that Latarina is talking about is Seat 61. It is a mine of information about travelling overland, particularly by train.
