Im visiting China soon for six weeks (winter time) and i have a few questions. Im going down the East Coast from Beijing to Hong Kong!
The first one being (and im sure you will agree the most important) what is the nightlife like throughout China?? I love to see culture, try the different foods and experience the country but i do love to enjoy a few parties. The great wall rave looked good... that sort of thing. Does anyone know of any events during Jan & Feb??
I have six weeks to get from Beijing to Hong Kong... is this enough time???
What are the DO NOT MISS places/events by YOUR opinion!!!
Greatfull for your ideas!!
Hello Jenny ,
I highly recommend these cities: Beijing , Shanghai, Xi'an,Guilin,Yunnan, Hongkong .But since you said that you will go down the East Coast, and Xi'an,Guilin ,Yunnan are not on this line. So may be you can think about it .
The night life in China is differnt from ort to ort. In big city such as Beijing ,Shanghai,Honkong it would be comfortable to see the night view on a ferry .All the hight building are decorated with the lights ,it is very beautiful! You can also go the the bar or disco to have a drink or dance and sing. But most chinese people like to enjoy themselves in the small restaunt on the street ,order some food ,bottels of bear, chat with friends ~~ And in some city ,for example, Guangzhou (I live in GZ) ,shopping is a very popular activity in night life! All shops and supermarkt become crowed in night, because people have to work at days and after supper they would like to have a walk and maybe buy something~~
hope this will be helpful to you ~~
enjoy your trip in China!
I've just got back from China. Also a 6 week trip with a week in Hong-Kong tagged onto the end. Look-up my trips to see the route I took. But if you're planning on spending 6 weeks travelling down the East coast I reckon you'll have plenty of time.
Night life in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong-Kong is definitely the most exciting and you'll definitely have more options. In Beijing, pick up the latest copy of TimeOut Beijing for the best bars and offers. Don't miss out on some of the shows, they were really fun (but I'd personally pass on the Beijing Opera front).
When you get to Shanghai, pick up a copy of SH. It's available in a lot of bars, hostels and diners. I think it comes out weekly so there's definitely something going on every night. I really liked the bars in the French Concession (Ying Yang and Constellation were good).
Hope this helps and I hope you enjoy your trip!
Hi, dont worry your nightlife in China. Sanlitun, very famous in Beijing. Xintiandi, very famous in Shanghai.
Relax and enjoy.
I live in Suzhou, China, very near Shanghai. It maybe is worth a visit. They have beautiful gardens here. I guess it is known to be one of the more beautiful cities in China. They also have a bar street, Shichuan St. It can get pretty crazy on the weekends, depending on what you are interested in. There are a lot of places where you can do things that are definitely not legal or possible in developed countries. Ha! Good luck!
