I chose NZ I suppose because I have been to Thailand - and thinking of one or the other NZ has more of a draw to me. Seems more... romantic? Thailand was hot, busy, crowded.. which is good sometimes - but not right now for me.

Brendan - can't be that all of Thailand is that way.

there are a TON of people in Ireland and yet I had to ask locals for help getting me out of places where they would look at me funny saying "American? We don't get many of those here."

If a person can find "out of the way" in Ireland I am guessing one can find "out of the way" in Thailand...ahh but you have been.. am i wrong?

I have been to Thailand - and it's true there are many remote places. I guess I can't really explain it, something about a small island in the pacific also draws me in. I am really interested in sailing, and sailing to NZ is one of my dreams.

now we are talking good reason to go to NZ.

I met a Kiwi river guide in Honduras a couple years ago..he father owned/operated a "boat shifting business".
His gig after the rafting thing for another couple of weeks was to sail a client's boat from San Francisco to New Zealand.

Figi is small LOL

South Pacific sailing...yep I can see the romance of that. :)

That would be a wicked gig! Sailing an others boat across the oceans... that would be amazing

Yeah, some people manage to figure out a way to make their dreams work for them. :)
