There are not many hotels in Asuncion that are really worth going to. I lived there for 4 months and everyone I know who went to a Hotel, even the poshest one in the center, complained of cockroaches and misfunctionning facilities...

Hey,

Im in Asuncion at the moment and have been for about 4 weeks now, its a pretty crazy place, especially when you want to cross a road! You may want to think about taking out life insurance just to do that!
But generally the Paraguayan people are very friendly and will always offer you some 'terrere'! Which is kind of like tea but more herby, if you understand what I am saying!? You will when you get here! For the first night I stayed in a hotel called 'Parana' which is pretty near the city centre and only cost me $10 dollars a night, for that you get continental breakfast, a/c, double bed and cable TV with a few English speaking channels! It also has a pool on the top floor which wasnt too appealing when I first arrived as they dont use it during the winter so it was very green! However I am sure that it will be sorted out now, if not by the time you get here!

Anyway good luck
Luke
