This winter i have a chance to travell to Indian region. In particular, I plan to see some places in India and Nepal.
I arrive to Dehli on January 19 and return home on February 10. (Unfortunately, Dehli is the only flight option available for my country).
My preliminary plan is to spend near a week in Nepal first (see Kathmandu, Pokhara and Lalitpur). Than somehow get to Goa (my dream for a long time) and stay there for a week or so. And finish the trip by discovering Agra and Delhi sights.
Notably, I do not want to spend much money on local flights and will probably use those only to get to Goa (since it is quite distant place) and back. I naively hope to get to Nepal by bus.
1. Can someone advise me on how to optimise the logistics of the trip?
2. I would also appreciate suggestions on how long it is worth staying in each place and what necessarely see there.
3. Finally, I'm thinking on seeing Varanasi just after Nepal and than flying to Goa. Is this idea worth spending time?
Thank you All!
There are bus companies that do the route Varanassi to Kathmandu but I'm not sure about the safety of the route. Varanassi is an amazingly beautiful and friendly place, so a great place to have an excuse to squeeze in! I loved it so much there that plan to go back in February. Take a look at some of the photos I took. Yes, probably better to fly to Goa.
Now that I've got more into this I believe it is worth seing more sacred places, like Varanasi, and staying less in Goa. I would probrly rearange the plan of the route.
Varanasi to Kathmandu by bus is not feasible as it would be quite tiring, instead take a bus from Gorakhpur to Nepal. Many luxury buses operate from gorakhpur to Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal
From gorakhpur to varanasi u can take the train which takes around 5-6 hours. from Varanasi u can go to Agra or Delhi by train. goa is quite far off by train, since there are no direct flights from Varanasi to Goa, u might well have to board it from Delhi.
If u can skip Goa, u can spend some time in Rajasthan and explore the beautiful cities of Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Ajmer
Do let me know if u need more info
Cheers and have a nice trip
Just wanted to ask,
- is it feasible to travell Varanasi - Khajuraho - Agra (or reversal) and what is the best way to do such a route?
- How much time will it take to visit Vijayanagara fom Goa? (I should not miss the South Indian architecture)
It is very much possible to do Varanasi-khajuraho-agra
From varanasi u can take a train to either Jhansi or Gwalior and then take a bus to Khajuraho. U can also halt at Orcha which is around 3 hrs from Jhansi and is a beautiful town.
After doing Khajuraho u can return back to Gwalior or Jhansi and then take a train to Agra which is just 2-3 hrs from Jhansi
From Goa u can take an overnight bus to Vijaynagar
hope this helps
