Travel Forums Asia Want to go to Thailand and Cambodia?

I'm really feeling the need to travel lately and I've always wanted to see Southeast Asia. I thought I'd start with Thailand and Cambodia. The only trouble I'm having is finding a travel partner. Everyone wants to go, but know one seems to be able to come up with the money.
So now I'm expanding my search.......so, HELP.
Thanks, Jen

My advice is do it by yourself ! i did this year and had an amazing time , you meet loads of people .
It was the first time i had been backpacking properly so i was scared before i left at the great unknown , but when i got there i just chilled took it all in and started to meet people realy naturally . I found it so enjoyable by myself that i dont think i will ever travel with a friend ever.I saw plenty of women there also doing it solo who were also having just as much fun .. Just do it you will love it , Thailand and Cambodia are easy you will never be lonley or lost .

Just go by yourself. I know, the idea sounds daunting, but it's not. Thousands of young people like yourself head to Thailand solo every day and they all do just fine. Trust me, you'll arrive on Kao San Road and unless you are completely socially inapt will have made 10 friends within the first 5 hours. Just don't be scared to talk to random people at your hotel, restaurant, bar etc.... If they are alone they probably want someone to talk too. And don't be scared to talk to couples either. Speaking from experience from traveling as a couple (and often solo) most people assume couples want to be alone. But usually in places like Thailand they've just spent the last half a year glued to each other and would love some outside company.
just go, you'll be fine

I agree, do it youself.
It will give you more freedom to do what *you* want and you'll have the chance to make the trip truly your own.
Plus you'll save allot of time on arguments that are sure to arise in situations like these!

Looking back I don't know if I could have done my trip any other way than solo and now I'm planning to go again by myself :D

Thanks for all the replies. I've been pondering going alone, but wasn't sure of how safe it was. It's very intimidating as well. You have given me a much needed kick in the ass! I'll stop being a sissy, suck it up and venture out in the big, bad world all by my lonesome.
