Ola amigo's! I am now in Santiago after nearly 6 months of travelling alone, can't believe I've got this far, had such a great time!

I've done India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and now I'm starting my South America adventure, after this I'm supposed to be flying to Madrid for December but I'm thinking of changing my trip, I have an idea in mind but it's not so straight forward and could be slightly unrealistic but I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice as to how I can make this possible...

Obviously at the moment I'm in Santiago, I´m supposed to fly to Lima
next Monday (the 12th November). I'm booked on the Inca trail from the
24th-26th November, then I'm supposed to have a flight from Quito to
Madrid on the 29th November.

I'm wondering if it makes sense now to fly to Quito instead of Lima on
the 12th, then travel down for 2 weeks to eventually reach Cuzco for
the Inca Trail, then I now hope to fly from there (Cuzco or Lima) to
Brazil (ideally) or another part of South America (maybe Argentina) for a week, then I'd really like to return to
Bangalore, India again for a week or two (I've been invited back!) and then London for christmas as
originally planned!

Can anyone shed some light on this? It would be much appreciated!

Gracias,

Alex

As far as I am aware you aren't allowed to re route a round the world ticket after the ticket has begun being used which obviously yours has. If it was possible it would involve reissuing the whole ticket which would also be a fairly costly process. I think that your best bet is to leave things as are and then look for a fare from Madrid-Bangalore that is reasonably priced for straight after you arrive at Madrid (best to look as far in advance as possible). You could look at getting internal flights within South America to do some of that extra travel you want there, but it does work out rather expensive for those flights.

Goodluck getting it to all work out.

I booked my round the world ticket thru Quantas and we were allowed to re-route. We didn't because we were happy with our destinations, although we did push flights back.

It's worth checking with the airline, because from what I remember of the terms and conditions we could change destinations but there would be a charge. I think you have to contact the company that issued the ticket, and then actually contact the airline the flight you want to change would be with. It's a bit of process, but it's worth trying if you're set on changing it and don't mind paying a fee.
